Empty Nesters

Empty Nesters” is a slang term for a couple who had children but the children grew up and moved out of the house.  There are a lot of “empty nesters” now in the western world because there are a lot of older couples.  Empty nesters are often retired and live in a big house.  It is quite an emotional transition for a lot of these people because their lives changed a lot.  They finished working and their kids are gone.  They often have a lot of time on their hands and don’t know what to do with it.  Some people love the freedom, some people find it boring.
